Finally, it's the weekend! We have a birthday celebration tonight so I'm currently trying to figure out what to wear for that. In the mean time, I've got some weekend outfit inspiration for you!
Hubby had to go down to the VA the other day, which is all the way down by the airport (40 miles from our house - in case you're not aware, nothing is ever convenient or even remotely efficient for Veterans), so we made the most of it and hung out on South Congress for the day.
As I mentioned the other day in an Instagram post my wonderful mother-in-law got me some gorgeous white mules while we were out shopping at Target, so of course I had to take them out for a spin. These were so comfortable, and they went perfectly with the distressed denim that I got in my Old Navy haul a couple weeks back.
On Monday, I made a Target run and ended up grabbing this gorgeous cross-body from A New Day, along with this tie-front blouse from Universal Thread. Both of these are going to be great wardrobe staples through summer. The crossbody is the perfect tan, and the little suede detail on the front panel is a nice touch. It also comes in a really interesting vintage navy color, a gorgeous Kelly green, and black, which I will probably end up getting as well.
Side note: I've heard from a few trusted sources that the Universal Thread clothing fits a bit weird; is anyone else having this problem? What I've heard is that it's difficult to fill the hips and bust in these garments, even for curvy girls. This top fits me well enough, and I really like that it's longer in the back (perfect for wearing with leggings!). So I'm curious to try more pieces from them to see if it depends on the style, or what.
Can we talk about the mule trend? I was skeptical at first, but Target has been getting some really cute styles in! However, I have difficulty wearing them. My feet are long and narrow, and styles like this can look like clown shoes on me reeeeal easily. I tried on these, these, and even these, to no avail. But the white ones looked perfect! I think the slightly squared toe and hardware help to break up the length a bit. I did have to size up a half size for them to truly fit well, though (I'm normally 9-9 1/2, and I got a 10).
On another note, my hair is severely in need of an update. I'm thinking about doing this icy blonde color that everyone is talking about lately. Thoughts? Let me know in the comments!
